Real Wedding: Kristen + Steven at The Merrimon-Wynne House

Oh my goodness I cannot get over this wedding! This couple and family have made the biggest impact on my heart and life. To say I am obsessed with this couple and her parents would be the understatement of the year! From our first phone call, I knew I was a goner with Kristen and Steven. They truly were one of those couples that you knew they loved to live life to the fullest and make it the most fun it can be. I heard all about how he lived in Hoboken and she was in Charlotte, and that is how most of the wedding planning (for their Raleigh wedding) happened.

I was hired to help with the design and catering, and man oh man did I love every minute with them. Kristen is a girl after my own heart... I mean seriously she said what I was thinking or vise versa. She told me her vision of greenery, with white flowers with the navy middle (anemone), and rich wine colors. Instantly my brain took off in a million directions, so I called Bushel and Peck! Ashlee took the vision we all had come up with and brought it to life.

Now I did mention that this couple was all about a party, and that was the number one focus. How to make this a party to remember!? Starting with the food, we had Rocky Top serve up some of the most delicious blackened Mahi I have ever had, and the passed appetizers were completely drool-worthy.

Next was to think through space at the Merrimon-Wynne House, as this fun loving couple invited over 200 people! Originally the thought was dinner under a full starlit tent! The more we thought about the weather, and all of the unknowns that mother nature loves to give us in April, we played around with different layouts in the Carriage House. This landed us to one of my most favorites I have seen there. We were so fortunate with a nice, but rainy, spring day. Since the temperature was wonderful we were able to sit people outside under the pergola with the accordion doors opened. It really made for a stunning space with a dance floor big enough for 170 people!

When I say this couple is fun, I mean every aspect was thoughtfully planned out. So, speaking of the dance floor, Kristen and Steven hired one of my favorite DJ companies, All Events DJs. They made the soundtrack to this day a dream. From Kristen entering the ceremony at exactly 1 min and 45 seconds into a song all the way to them entering their reception to "Like a Virgin" (I can't stop laughing from that one), and All Events DJs had everything flowing perfectly. Not to mention they kept people dancing the night away.

The reception was stunning, but I can't leave out the wonderful Greenhouse Picker Sisters for supplying the two lounges that were a hit the whole day, and the stunning hanging dessert bar! I mean it couldn't have been any more perfect for all of the yummy desserts Rocky Top brought, that complimented SweetWater Ices so perfectly. This wedding was truly one to remember! From the champagne welcome to help guest forget about the rain, the nonstop music, the market lights in the Carriage House, flowers that would take your breath away, and the lounges accompanied by a fire pit... I will be dreaming about this wedding for years to come.

Kristen and Steven, your friends and family are some of my most favorite people I have met! I can't wait to see you and your parents again soon! Dinner, drinks, and a night out cannot come soon enough. I wish you guys nothing but the best in life, and I miss y'all terribly!
