Sometimes, as a planner, you meet a couple that just captures your heart from the very beginning! For me, that couple was Ashley and Charlie! I loved Ashley and Charlie from our initial phone chat - I knew that we would be a great fit and the vision for their wedding was 100%!!
Ashley and Charlie were both "Summer Camp People" and after this wedding i have determined that those are the best types of people! They go with the flow - they understand the best laid plans can go awry, they understand the value in planning but also know that everything is not within their control - as only people who are responsible for 100's of children over a few short weeks could understand. When we had to make last minute changes on the day, there were no less than 30 camp people lined up eager to make it happen. It was such a lesson in community!
But before all of that....Ashley and Charlie really wanted to get married at the camp they worked at in Clover, Virginia. After the initial site visit, I could see why! It was BEAUTIFUL in the Vermont, Martha Stewart, pristine and green sort of way! All of the rolling hills, white bunkhouses with green roofs, and a big lake really set a beautiful backdrop for their event! They also really wanted their guests to experience their camp lifestyle first hand and I think we accomplished these goals!
I loved all the details that went into this event! We gained a lot of inspiration from Ashley's light blue and white dress and really ran with a free, organic, colorful wedding! Bushel and Peck did such an amazing job capturing Ashley's sophisticated bohemian vision with the light blue and Marsala pops. Charlie actually grew several of the wild flowers that were used in the centerpieces and bouquets - I was so impressed! Be sure to check out the picture of the flowered tree! It was dreamy.
Rocky Top did an amazing job on the food and really went with the flow as our weather did not cooperate! We had to move our party at the last minute (Insert camper help here) to the dining hall which was already piped and draped (just in case). We had to hold off on the ceremony for about 30 minutes to wait for a break in the weather and SweetWater Ices stepped up to the plate and entertained our guests during what was our new pre-ceremony cocktail hour! I was so thankful for the strong team that made it happen and for such a laid back client that trusted me to make the decisions on the day.
Thanks to all our awesome vendors!
