When I first met with Lila & Carlos and we were talking about some of the fun elements they wanted to incorporate, I knew it was going to be a wedding for the books! There's no better way to explain it than to walk through the day.
To start the festivities, they had their ceremony in the amphitheater at the Duke Gardens, which is always beautiful! They have a 7 month old daughter who even got to walk down the aisle with them once they were announced Mr. & Mrs. Then cocktail hour on the terrace and lawn. Followed by the reception in the Doris Duke Center and that's when the fun really kicked in. Lila and Carlos met while dancing and it was a first dance that I will never forget. A rendition of "All of Me" was created by the Stylus DJ team and was the perfect accompaniment. After dinner, Carlos's two teenage children gave toasts that had the entire room in tears as they spoke so highly of Lila and their dad. Then they pumped up the dance floor with a Peruvian Drummer performance by the extremely talented, and Grammy award winning, Marcos Napa. Then Carlos and a dancing partner, Cristal, took to the floor to perform a dance choreographed by Carlos to resemble his courtship with Lila. It was Ah-Mazing! Then everyone flooded the dance floor to get the party started!
Lila and Carlos did a wonderful job of reflecting themselves as a couple and the meshing of their two lives. When a couple gets engaged in Peru and the groom is from Peru, you know there will be lots of Peruvian influences, including Maduros for desserts, obviously lots of inspired dancing, Pisco sour drinks, and he even said his vows to Lila in Spanish.
Lila and Carlos - thanks for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Here's to many, many years of dancing together!
