Real Wedding: Samera + Ian at The Cotton Room and Durham Armory

Samera and Ian's day was full of beautiful color and precious family tradition. Samera's family is rich in her Ethiopian heritage - and that was evident throughout the celebrations!

They started their celebration at The Cotton Room in Durham with a traditional American wedding ceremony. Heidi Gessner officiated the ceremony, and the couple wrote their own vows. After the ceremony, the party moved to the Durham Armory where the guests enjoyed champagne and Ethiopian honey wine as they entered the reception hall. Green Planet provided yummy cocktail hour treats. Finally, the bride and groom entered in their traditional Ethiopian attire and were greeted with Ethiopian songs and rose petals thrown at them at their entrance. Dinner was a fusion menu - Ethiopian cuisine by Awaze and American cuisine by Green Planet Catering. The night was full of fun dances, meaningful speeches - and the lighting design by Vivid Lighting made us all feel like we were under the stars for the evening!

Best wishes Ian and Samera for a beautiful life together!
